FAQ:

What are the topics of tours?

We have the historical ones, that submerge you into the city’s past: The All-Inclusive Tour, which combines a walk through Old Town, a traditional Czech lunch, a cruise on Vltava River, and the famous Prague Castle. The All-Inclusive tour can be also split into two individual tours – Highlights of Old Town & Jewish Ghetto, and Prague Castle & Canal River Boat Tour. We also have two tours that are specific and dedicated to just one theme: World War 2 & Operation Anthropoid, which touches the subject of the attempt of assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, and the Psychiatric Hospital & Abandoned Cemetery tour, which lets you see more into the history of the mental health treatment and the evolution of psychiatry. In addition, we operate two evening tours, which combine the history with the tales of the past. These are Alchemy & Mysteries of Prague Castle tour, which takes you through the medieval Prague of Rudolph II., and our most popular tour, Ghosts & Legends of Old Town, where you will learn some darker aspects of the city through folklore legends.

Do I need to have experience in guiding tours?

We welcome prospective guides who have a passion for history or theatre arts, but no previous experience is necessary. All we ask is that you are confident, outgoing, and enjoy engaging with people while telling captivating stories. We provide comprehensive training where we will teach you everything else you need to know. For three weeks in the city centre, 3 hours per one day a week, you will learn approximately 15 pages of a standard A4 paper, as well as useful techniques such as how to entertain the guests, how to accommodate their questions and how to present your speech eloquently and stylishly.

Can I earn with guiding tours for a living?

Yes, but the road there is long. You will begin with one tour. The contracts we are proposing are not full-time. However, it is a nice addition to your job or shifts, since we have both daytime and evening tours you can choose from. We offer two types of cooperation: ŽL for self-employed individuals who may want to start their own business, and DPP for students and regular workers. Your starting salary will be approximately 250 Kč per hour, with additional bonuses such as 50 Kč for every positive review, 50 Kč for a photo of you and your guests, as well as tips that guests give to their guide and storyteller for the well-spent time.

What are my career options?

First, you will start as a Junior guide. After learning one tour, getting familiar with it properly, and receiving 10 positive reviews, you can advance to learning a second tour and actively guiding both. This progression qualifies you as a Senior guide, with an increased salary potential of up to 600 Kč per hour. All of it depends on your zest and passion and your own time and terms.

Who is in the team of guides?

We have a very broad and international team. Many find this job ideal because tours occur at various times throughout the day, accommodating their schedules with school, university, or hobbies. Some use guiding as supplementary income alongside their full-time jobs, while for others, it serves as a primary form of freelance work, alongside translation or language teaching. Despite their varied backgrounds, what unites everyone is a shared love for Prague, a passion for tourism, and the joy of connecting with new people.

How will my language skills be assessed?

While certifications demonstrating language proficiency can be advantageous in many workplaces, they are not mandatory when applying for a position with us. If you are not a native speaker, we will evaluate your language abilities during the interview and training process.

How does the scheduling work?

Each month, we will share a schedule link where you can indicate your availability. You can choose to lead a tour on specific days, or you’re available but would rather not be on the schedule that day, or you can’t guide that day at all. A commitment to a minimum of 8 tours per month is required. We seek long-term commitment, expecting you to guide for us for at least 6 months. By the 25th of each month, the finalized schedule will be approved and published for you to review and plan accordingly.

What times do the tours take place?

The times and durations of our tours vary. Some start at different times depending on the season. Additionally, the days of the week for each tour can also differ. This variety in tour schedules is beneficial for our busy guides, allowing them to select tours that fit well with their other commitments. If you’re interested in guiding a specific tour, you can find detailed information about the timings on the product page of that particular experience.

How many people will be in my group?

The group size varies depending on the tour and the current tourist season. Our tours can accommodate a maximum of 30 people. The Ghosts & Legends of Old Town tour often reaches this capacity, whereas others typically have groups of up to 15 people.

Do I have to speak Czech?

Not at all – our other guides come from various parts of the world and speak many other languages. Since the tours are in English and German, we don’t require other languages than that.
